NEW PLAYERS GET A FREE DECK
New to Magic? Your First Deck Is on Us!
Have you watched people playing Magic: The Gathering and wondered how to get started? Maybe the artwork caught your eye, a friend keeps talking about their favorite deck, or you’re simply curious about what all those cards actually do. At Purple Dragon Games, we want to help you take that first step—with a FREE Welcome Deck for new players who register with a Wizards Account through the Magic Companion app!
Magic is a card game where you summon creatures, cast spells, and discover clever ways to outplay your opponent. Every deck has its own personality, and part of the fun is discovering yours. You might enjoy commanding enormous creatures, carefully planning your next spell, or surprising your opponent with a move they never saw coming. You don’t need to know which style suits you yet. That’s what your first games are for!
How to Claim Your FREE Welcome Deck
Getting started is easy:
Download the free Magic: The Gathering Companion app for iPhone or Android at the official Companion download page.
Create a free Wizards Account, or sign in with an existing account. If you already play Magic: The Gathering Arena, you can use that same account.
Visit Purple Dragon Games and tell our staff you’re new to Magic and would like to claim your Welcome Deck. Show us that you’re signed in, and we’ll help you get started!
Welcome Decks are designed to introduce new players to the game. Your deck gives you cards to explore, practice with, and keep as the beginning of your own collection. Welcome Decks are available while supplies last.
A Little App That Makes Playing Easier
Companion will also come in handy as you explore in-store events. You can enter an event code provided by the store, check your match pairings, report results, and use its life counter while you play. You’re creating a Wizards Account as a player; Purple Dragon Games is your local Wizards Play Network member store.
Most importantly, you don’t have to arrive knowing all the rules. Questions are welcome, and every experienced player started with a first game. Bring a friend, bring your curiosity, and stop by Purple Dragon Games in Yreka.
Your first deck—and your next adventure—could be waiting right here.
