WARHAMMER 40K
Warhammer 40K war games are now in Siskiyou County at Purple Dragon Games in Northern California. All experience levels are welcome, from new players learning tabletop miniature wargaming to seasoned Warhammer 40,000 veterans. You do not need your own army to play—bring your collection if you have one, or join in and learn with the help of our growing local Warhammer community.
WARHAMMER OPEN PLAY
Warhammer Open Play is a casual, community-focused tabletop gaming session where players bring their Warhammer armies to play relaxed games without the pressure of a tournament. There are no brackets or eliminations—just friendly matches, practice games, and opportunities to learn. Players can set up games at agreed point levels, try new army lists, or play shorter learning skirmishes. All experience levels are welcome. If you are new to Warhammer, experienced players are happy to teach the rules, explain strategies, and sometimes even share their collections so you can try the game without owning an army. Warhammer Open Play is about building community, learning the game, and getting miniatures on the table in a welcoming environment.
COMMAND COUNCIL
Warhammer Command Council is Purple Dragon Games’ dedicated gathering for players ready to jump straight into full Warhammer 40,000 10th Edition battles. Hosted by Purple Dragon Games and run in partnership with the State of Jefferson War Gamers and the Lords of Dale Gaming Club, this event focuses on complete, long-form games designed for players with existing Warhammer experience.
Command Council is built for intermediate to advanced players who understand the basics and are ready to deploy armies and play full matches that often last several hours. You can expect to see veteran hobbyists, experienced commanders, and tournament-level players sharing the tables in a friendly but focused play environment. While everyone is welcome to attend, this is not a learn-to-play session. The goal is to provide a reliable space where players can arrive prepared and enjoy meaningful, uninterrupted games.
Although the event officially begins at 1 PM, many players arrive early (store opens at noon) to set up terrain, review army lists, and coordinate matchups so games can begin right on time. Bringing your own Warhammer army is strongly recommended. Once battles begin, tables are typically committed for the duration of the game, so late arrivals may find it difficult to join mid-session.
