RPG RULES & TERMS OF RESPONSIBLE PLAY FOR DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, AND ALL ROLEPLAY Introduction Purple Dragon Games exists to provide a welcoming place where people can gather to enjoy tabletop roleplaying games in a respectful, creative, and enjoyable environment. Because campaigns held in the Dungeon Room are privately organized and are not supervised by Purple Dragon Games, the Dungeon Master and players are responsible for the content, direction, and conduct of their own games. These Community Standards are not intended to limit creativity, judge personal beliefs, or dictate how stories should be told. Their purpose is to encourage clear communication, informed participation, and mutual respect so every participant can make informed decisions about the games they join. Most groups will never require staff involvement. However, if staff must resolve disputes, investigate complaints, protect guests or store property, or determine whether someone may continue using the Dungeon Room, these standards will serve as the basis for those decisions. BY ENGAGING IN ROLEPLAY WITHIN PURPLE DRAGON GAMES, OR BUY USING OUR ONLINE PLATFORMS (WEBSITE, GROUPS, DISCORD, SOCIAL MEDIA, ETC) YOU ARE AGREEING TO THE TERMS OF USE AND RULES BELOW. I. Dungeon Room & Equipment 1. Proper Use of the Dungeon Room The Dungeon Room is intended for tabletop roleplaying games and closely related gaming activities. Store amenities are reserved for registered users of the room during their session. Please respect neighboring play areas and keep noise at a reasonable level. 2. Room Rental, Reservations & Time The Dungeon Room is rented in up to four (4) hour sessions, unless otherwise arranged with staff. Room rental fees are due in full before entering the Dungeon Room. Room rental fees are non-refundable once the session has begun, regardless of attendance, late arrivals, early departures, or changes to the number of participants. Players may reserve the Dungeon Room in advance when available or rent it upon arrival if it is not already in use. Groups should plan to conclude their session before 8:00 PM, and 6:00PM Sundays. If no other group has reserved or is waiting to use the Dungeon Room, groups are welcome to continue playing with verbal approval from the Owner or Store Manager. When availability allows, Purple Dragon Games is happy to extend room use beyond the standard session, including allowing groups to enjoy the room for the remainder of the day. Our goal is to be flexible and accommodating while ensuring every group has a fair opportunity to enjoy the Dungeon Room. 3. Room Capacity Occupancy of SIX may not exceed the posted room capacity. Staff may limit attendance for safety or operational reasons. 4. Care of Store Property Treat all furniture, electronics, books, miniatures, accessories, and equipment with care. Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately. Players may be financially responsible for damage resulting from misuse or negligence. 5. Food & Drinks Keep food and beverages away from the digital tabletop display. Do not roll dice directly on the display surface. Please clean the room before leaving. 6. Computer & Electronics The room computer exists solely to support tabletop gaming. Do not install software, download files, modify settings, create accounts, browse unrelated websites, or make online purchases without staff approval. 7. Prohibited Items Alcohol, illegal drugs, smoking, vaping, hazardous materials, and unauthorized weapons are prohibited. Participants may not possess or use any item in a manner that creates a safety concern or disrupts the experience of others. 8. Impairment & Refusal of Service Participants are expected to conduct themselves responsibly while using the Dungeon Room. Purple Dragon Games reserves the right to refuse service, deny entry, or require a participant to leave if staff reasonably believe the individual is under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any other substance to the extent that it may impair judgment, create a safety concern, damage store property, or disrupt the experience of others. Determinations regarding impairment are made at the reasonable discretion of Purple Dragon Games staff. 9. Music, Media & Displayed Content Music, videos, projected images, artwork, internet content, and other media displayed within the Dungeon Room should support the gaming experience while remaining appropriate for a shared public environment. Audio should be kept at a reasonable volume and projected media should not interfere with neighboring activities. Displayed media should also respect any content boundaries established during Session Zero. The following real-world content may not be displayed, projected, streamed, or intentionally played through the Dungeon Room's equipment, including but not limited to: Political campaigning or recruitment. Hate speech, discriminatory rhetoric, or slurs. Promotion of extremist, terrorist, or criminal organizations. Pornographic or sexually explicit material. Graphic nudity. Graphic real-world violence, executions, torture, or gore. Material promoting illegal activity or dangerous conduct. Content encouraging self-harm or suicide. Excessively explicit music or audio dominated by repeated profanity or sexual content. Unless the entire player group consents first: no proselytizing, including attempts to recruit, persuade, convert, or campaign participants toward or away from any real-world belief, ideology, movement, organization, philosophy, or cause. Examples of proselytizing include: Political campaigning or advocacy. Religious evangelism or apologetics. Occult or esoteric instruction intended to persuade or recruit. Cult recruitment or advocacy. Promotion of conspiracy movements or extremist ideologies. Attempts to persuade participants to adopt or reject a particular worldview, philosophy, or social movement. Friendly conversation between willing participants is always welcome. This policy applies only to unsolicited efforts to persuade, recruit, or convert others while using the Dungeon Room. Fictional settings may include fantasy religions, fictional gods, demons, devils, angels, cults, monsters, kingdoms, political intrigue, supernatural creatures, historical inspiration, or other narrative elements when they have been reasonably disclosed during Session Zero and are appropriate to the campaign. 10. Personal Property Purple Dragon Games is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unattended personal property. II. Player Conduct & Disclosure 1. Respect Toward Others Every participant is expected to treat others with courtesy, honesty, and respect. Harassment, bullying, intimidation, threats, stalking, discrimination, or disruptive behavior are not permitted, including but not limited to: Harassment (repeated or severe unwanted behavior that disturbs, humiliates, or targets another participant, including unwanted comments, jokes, gestures, or personal attention). Bullying (repeated actions intended to embarrass, intimidate, isolate, ridicule, or pressure another participant through words, actions, or social behavior). Intimidation (conduct intended to make another participant feel afraid, coerced, unsafe, or pressured into acting against their wishes). Threats (statements or actions that reasonably communicate an intent to cause harm, damage property, or retaliate against another person). Stalking (repeated unwanted following, monitoring, contacting, or attempting to locate another participant after such contact has been made unwelcome). Discrimination (targeting, excluding, or treating another participant unfairly because of a protected characteristic recognized by applicable law or because of personal characteristics unrelated to the game). Disruptive behavior (conduct that unreasonably interferes with the enjoyment of others, the operation of the Dungeon Room, or the normal business of Purple Dragon Games). 2. Personal Space Respect the personal space and property of others. Physical contact should only occur with another person's consent except where reasonably necessary for safety. 3. Respect for Staff Participants are expected to follow reasonable instructions from Purple Dragon Games staff regarding safety, room use, and store operations. 4. Personal Hygiene Participants should arrive in a manner appropriate for a shared public environment, including maintaining reasonable personal hygiene. 5. Session Zero Every campaign should begin with a Session Zero or equivalent discussion. Dungeon Masters should explain the campaign's tone, themes, expectations, and style before regular play begins. 6. Content Disclosure Dungeon Masters should disclose significant themes that a reasonable player would want to know before joining a campaign. Examples include horror, romance, mature themes, psychological manipulation, body horror, historical inspiration, graphic violence, political intrigue, religious or spiritual themes, or other potentially sensitive subjects. Disclosure exists to promote informed participation rather than restrict storytelling. 7. Player Boundaries Players should have an opportunity to communicate subjects they prefer to avoid. Dungeon Masters should make reasonable efforts to respect those boundaries throughout the campaign. 8. Privacy Respect the privacy of other participants. Do not share another participant's personal information without permission. Photography, video recording, livestreaming, or audio recording should only occur with the knowledge and consent of those being recorded. 9. Good Faith Participation Every participant is expected to engage honestly, respectfully, and cooperatively. These standards are intended to guide both the letter and the spirit of community participation. 10. Independent Campaigns & False Authority Dungeon Masters organizing private campaigns do so independently and are not employees, agents, contractors, representatives, or spokespersons of Purple Dragon Games unless expressly designated by the Owner in writing. Statements, rulings, opinions, campaign content, promises, financial arrangements, or personal conduct by privately organized Dungeon Masters do not represent the views, policies, or official actions of Purple Dragon Games. Purple Dragon Games provides the Dungeon Room as a venue for privately organized games and does not supervise, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content or operation of independent campaigns. No participant may represent themselves as speaking or acting on behalf of Purple Dragon Games unless expressly authorized by the Owner or Store Manager. III. In-Character Conduct 1. Shared Storytelling Tabletop roleplaying is a collaborative activity where every participant deserves an opportunity to contribute. Players should avoid intentionally disrupting the experience of others. 2. Fictional Themes Fictional campaigns may include religion, politics, demons, angels, monsters, warfare, horror, tragedy, moral conflict, cults, kingdoms, supernatural creatures, and similar narrative elements. Such themes should reasonably align with the expectations established during Session Zero. 3. Character Relationships Romantic or emotionally intimate interactions between characters require the consent of the players directly involved. Explicit sexual roleplay is not permitted. Sensitive scenes are encouraged to "fade to black" once their narrative purpose has been established. 4. Player vs. Player (PvP) Player-versus-player interactions may create memorable stories, but they require the consent of the affected players. No participant may use in-game actions to remove another player's enjoyment, agency, or reasonable expectations without that player's agreement. Player Consent Combat, theft, deception, sabotage, coercion, or other hostile actions directed toward another player's character require the consent of the affected player. A character's alignment, personality, or backstory does not override another player's boundaries. Consent may be established during Session Zero and may be withdrawn at any time. Examples of PvP Actions Combat includes attacking, injuring, restraining, poisoning, cursing, or killing another player's character. Rape and sexual assault are prohibited in gameplay. Theft includes taking, hiding, destroying, selling, or using another character's possessions. Deception includes manipulating another player's character into making significant decisions they did not knowingly agree to. Sabotage includes intentionally interfering with another character's goals, reputation, equipment, relationships, or opportunity to participate. Coercion includes threats, blackmail, magical control, intimidation, or abuse of power used to force another character into actions they would not otherwise choose. Dungeon Master Responsibility If consent is unclear, the Dungeon Master should pause play and resolve the concern before continuing. If a participant refuses to respect these standards, the Dungeon Master should notify Purple Dragon Games staff. Examples of conduct requiring prior agreement include: Attacking or killing another player's character. Stealing or destroying another character's belongings. Using Persuasion, Intimidation, charm, domination, possession, or similar abilities to force another player's decisions. Blackmailing or coercing another character into romance, intimacy, religion, criminal acts, or surrendering property. Framing another character, deliberately ruining their story, or repeatedly targeting them with harmful actions after the player has objected. Using "It's what my character would do" to justify behavior another player has declined. Examples of acceptable PvP include: Agreed-upon duels or rivalries. Planned betrayals discussed with the affected players. Friendly pranks or competition the table has agreed to. Character disagreements where each player retains full control over their own character. Player-versus-player roleplay should create shared storytelling, not one-sided harm. When consent is uncertain, pause the game and ask before proceeding. 5. Character Agency Every player has complete control over their own character's thoughts, emotions, beliefs, decisions, and actions. No participant may dictate or assume another player's character's behavior without that player's consent. Players control only their own characters. Describe your own character's actions and decisions, but do not make them for another player. Social interactions do not remove player agency. Persuasion, Deception, Intimidation, and similar abilities may influence another character, but they do not force another player to think, believe, agree, or act a certain way without that player's consent. Magic does not override player consent. Spells or abilities that charm, dominate, possess, compel, or otherwise control another player's character should only be used with that player's agreement or expectations established during Session Zero. Examples of prohibited conduct include: "Your character falls in love with mine." "You give me your magic item because I rolled Persuasion." "Your character believes me because I rolled Deception." "My spell forces you to betray the party." Speaking for another player's character or declaring their actions without permission. Character agency is one of the foundations of tabletop roleplaying. Every player should feel confident that they alone determine how their character thinks, feels, and responds. 6. Respecting Boundaries During Play If a participant becomes uncomfortable with the direction of a scene, the Dungeon Master should make a reasonable effort to redirect, summarize, or conclude that scene. No player should be pressured to continue roleplay beyond the boundaries established by the group. 7. Dungeon Master Responsibilities Dungeon Masters are entrusted with creating an environment where players can enjoy a collaborative, respectful, and engaging tabletop roleplaying experience. While every campaign has its own style, the following expectations help establish a positive experience for everyone at the table. Understand Purple Dragon Games Policies Before hosting a campaign, Dungeon Masters should become familiar with these Community Standards. The responsibilities outlined in Section II, Rules 5-7 (Session Zero, Content Disclosure, and Player Boundaries) are the primary obligations required to host a campaign at Purple Dragon Games. These standards ensure players can make informed decisions about the games they join and help establish a respectful table from the very beginning. Facilitate a Fair & Respectful Game Treat all players fairly, apply rules consistently, and encourage an environment where every participant feels welcomed and respected. Address disagreements calmly and make reasonable efforts to resolve conflicts before they disrupt the game. Encourage Shared Participation Make reasonable efforts to share the spotlight among players so each participant has meaningful opportunities to contribute to the story. Avoid allowing one player or character to consistently dominate the game at the expense of others. Establish Clear Expectations Before regular play begins, disclose the campaign's tone, mature themes, house rules, homebrew content, third-party material, player-versus-player expectations, the possibility of permanent character death, and any other significant gameplay elements that a reasonable player would want to know before joining. Encourage players to communicate their own expectations, boundaries, and questions during Session Zero. Promote Compliance with Community Standards Dungeon Masters are responsible for making reasonable efforts to ensure participants are aware of these Community Standards and know where they can be found. When a rule is unintentionally broken, the Dungeon Master should remind participants of the applicable standard and encourage compliance. If a participant refuses to follow these Community Standards, repeatedly violates them, or creates a situation the Dungeon Master cannot reasonably resolve, the Dungeon Master should pause play and notify Purple Dragon Games staff for assistance. Dungeon Masters should not attempt to enforce store policies through confrontation or removal of participants. Store staff are responsible for enforcement decisions. Respect Player Agency Encourage player choice and creativity while respecting each player's ownership of their character. Avoid using rulings or story events to unnecessarily remove player agency except where players have knowingly agreed to those possibilities. Maintain a Positive Table Environment Help foster cooperation, good sportsmanship, and respectful communication throughout the campaign. When concerns arise, make reasonable efforts to pause, redirect, or conclude a scene before it becomes disruptive or uncomfortable for the group. IV. Minor Under 13 Participation Policy Purple Dragon Games welcomes young adventurers and is committed to providing a safe, family-friendly environment. Because Purple Dragon Staff will not be present to supervise, and unscreened individuals are privately organizing campaigns vary greatly in tone and subject matter, additional standards apply to participants under the age of thirteen (13). 1. Adult Supervision • Participants under thirteen (13) years of age must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or adult family member (18 years or older) who remains present throughout the session. • The supervising adult is responsible for determining whether the campaign is appropriate for the minor. 2. Store-Run Youth Programs • If Purple Dragon Games offers designated youth programs, participants under thirteen (13) may participate according to the requirements established for that program. 3. Family-Friendly Standard • Campaigns involving unaccompanied minors participating in approved youth programs should remain appropriate for a general family audience. • This generally excludes explicit sexual content, graphic violence, excessive profanity, substance abuse, or other mature subject matter. 4. Parent Communication • Parents and guardians are encouraged to discuss expectations or concerns with the Dungeon Master before play begins. V. Staff Authority & Enforcement 1. Independent Campaigns Dungeon Masters organizing private campaigns do so independently and are not employees, agents, or representatives of Purple Dragon Games unless expressly designated by the store. 2. Staff Authority Staff may intervene whenever conduct affects guest safety, store operations, property, or compliance with these Community Standards. 3. Possible Responses Depending on the circumstances, staff may: Issue a reminder. Issue a warning. Require changes to conduct. End a session. Ask individuals to leave. Suspend Dungeon Room privileges. Permanently revoke Dungeon Room access. 4. Final Decisions Decisions regarding store operations, guest safety, and enforcement of these Community Standards are made at the reasonable discretion of Purple Dragon Games staff and are final. May 1, 2026 Bullying on Broadway Official Statement from Purple Dragon Games Purple Dragon Games would like to address and clarify misinformation currently circulating regarding our business, our parking lot, and recent events involving our staff. Since purchasing our new building in November 2025, which included a private parking lot in an area known to have limited parking, we began a transition period during November and December 2025. During this time, we respectfully introduced ourselves to neighboring businesses by placing informational notices on vehicles parked in the lot. These notices explained our intent to reserve the lot for our future staff and customers once operations were fully established. We also provided at least 30-day grace period with no enforcement of any kind, with the goal of allowing neighboring businesses time to prepare and adjust. Unfortunately, this transition did not proceed as expected. During and after this grace period, our staff began experiencing repeated instances of hostility. This included individuals approaching and yelling at staff members, entering our business to confront employees about parking matters, and ongoing online statements that misrepresented our intentions. One of the most common claims has been that Purple Dragon Games is charging individuals for parking illegally. We would like to clearly correct this misinformation: At no point has Purple Dragon Games ever charged anyone for parking, nor have we enforced paid parking on our private property. While early communication included language exploring the possibility of structured parking use, no system was ever implemented. In fact, we have made multiple good-faith efforts to accommodate neighboring businesses, including offering free parking arrangements in an attempt to reduce tension and foster cooperation. Despite these efforts, the situation escalated further between January and April 2026. A pattern of behavior developed involving multiple individuals, including: Verbal confrontations directed at staff members Entering our place of business to continue disputes Harassment in person and by phone Use of public street parking directly in front of our entrance for extended periods beyond posted limits, effectively blocking access to our storefront This has created serious operational challenges, including restricted access for delivery vehicles and difficulty for disabled guests to safely enter our business. In response, we made repeated attempts to communicate and resolve concerns directly. However, these attempts consistently led to increased hostility. For the safety of our staff, we implemented a zero-contact approach and, when necessary, contacted local authorities to help deescalate situations. More recently, following legal guidance, we contacted Code Enforcement regarding the misuse of time-limited public parking that has been impacting access to our business. Shortly thereafter, older informational notices from December 2025 were shared publicly online without context, leading to a renewed wave of misinformation. These posts included false claims that we were targeting legally parked vehicles on public streets. To clarify, those December 2025 notices were never placed on vehicles on public streets; they were used exclusively in our private parking lot during the initial transition after purchasing the property. While we did contact Code Enforcement, it was specifically regarding the ongoing abuse of the two-hour public parking limit directly in front of our storefront. This pattern has persisted for over five months, has been used in a way that targets our business and staff, and continues to interfere with normal operations. On the same day, we received our first direct threat of harm by phone, along with additional harassing communications. We want to be transparent: this situation has been deeply discouraging and, at times, frightening for our team. Our staff has expressed concern for their safety, including discomfort walking to their vehicles alone at night. This is not the environment we ever intended to be part of, nor one we believe reflects the values of our broader community. Purple Dragon Games exists to provide a welcoming, family-friendly environment centered around games, creativity, and community. It is disheartening that a matter involving parking has escalated into ongoing conflict affecting not only our team, but also our customers—including families and individuals who rely on accessible parking. We remain committed to resolving this situation peacefully and respectfully. We believe that shared spaces can function well when communication, respect, and cooperation are present, and we continue to hope for a return to those principles. We also kindly ask our customers and community members: Please do not engage in confrontation, either in person or online, on our behalf. TIPS AND GUIDELINES Start with your recipient’s preferences, then choose a commander that can create memorable games without depending on expensive cards. A focused deck usually performs better than a pile of powerful cards, so select one strategy and make most cards support it. Include enough mana sources, card draw, removal, and protection to keep the deck active throughout the game. As a starting point, consider about 36–38 lands, 10 sources of ramp, 10 card-draw effects, and 8–10 interaction spells, adjusting those numbers for the deck’s strategy and mana curve. Look for affordable cards that perform more than one job, such as creatures that remove permanents or lands with abilities. Remember that you are building a gift, so add personality through a theme, flavorful card choices, or a surprise synergy. Playtest the deck before submission, confirm every card follows the commander’s color identity, and verify that the deck remains within the $40 budget. Once Secret Santa assignments are announced, each participant will build for the person they receive and keep the pairing private until the deck reveal. The deck becomes a gift, so only include cards you are prepared to give away. Building affordably is part of the challenge: search your collection, browse bulk boxes, trade for staples, and ask store staff to help locate budget-friendly alternatives. Many strong Commander cards cost only a few cents, especially when you favor synergy over staples. Keep a deck list and check card prices as you build so the final deck does not unexpectedly exceed the $40 limit. Please submit the deck by the November 13th deadline, giving staff enough time to confirm legality and budget compliance before redistribution. Sleeves and a deck box are welcome finishing touches, but they are optional and do not need to be included. If the deck is unsleeved, secure it in a clean bag or temporary card container so nothing is lost or damaged. Check that the deck contains exactly 100 cards, has no duplicate nonbasic cards, and follows its commander’s color identity. Finally, remove notes, receipts, or identifying marks if you want your identity to remain secret until reveal day.
