Warhammer Command Council

Purple Dragon Games – 309 S. Broadway St, Yreka, CA
The Warhammer Command Council is a premier gathering of Siskiyou County’s most dedicated Warhammer hobbyists, collectors, and competitive players. This special event brings together experienced commanders, award-winning painters, and tournament veterans for a full afternoon of immersive tabletop battles at Purple Dragon Games.
On March 2, you can expect to see some of the region’s most impressive armies on display, including members of Jefferson State War Gamers, Lords of Dale Gaming Club, and other highly respected Warhammer enthusiasts. These players regularly participate in tournaments and hobby showcases, and they bring large, carefully painted collections that transform the tabletop into a cinematic battlefield. Full-length Warhammer 40,000 games will be running throughout the day, offering spectators and participants alike a chance to witness advanced strategy, precise positioning, and deep tactical planning in action.
The Command Council is not only for seasoned players. It is also one of the best opportunities to learn Warhammer in a structured, supportive setting. Throughout the event, experienced Warhammer coaches will be available on the floor to answer questions, explain rules interactions, and guide new players through the fundamentals of gameplay. If you have never played before, you are encouraged to attend. Several veteran players bring extra armies specifically to share with newcomers, allowing you to experience real gameplay without owning miniatures of your own.
New players can expect to participate in short skirmishes or guided introductory matches using community-provided armies. These shorter games are designed to teach movement, shooting, melee combat, objectives, and turn structure in a clear and approachable way. Coaches will walk you through each phase of the game, explaining how command points, stratagems, dice rolls, and battlefield positioning work together to create dynamic tactical encounters.
What truly sets the Command Council apart is the character of the community. This group is known for being humble, respectful, and deeply passionate about the hobby. Questions are welcomed. Advice is freely offered. Whether you are curious about competitive tournament play, narrative campaigns, painting techniques, or army building, there are experienced players ready to help you navigate the Warhammer hobby with confidence.
If you are interested in Warhammer 40K, miniature wargaming, competitive tabletop strategy, or simply want to see some of the most impressive armies in Siskiyou County assembled in one place, the Warhammer Command Council is an event you will not want to miss. Bring your collection if you have one, or come ready to learn from some of the area’s most knowledgeable and welcoming Warhammer players.
