About the event

Titanic: Memorial Event

Hosted by Purple Dragon Games in collaboration with A Kingdom Far Far Away, Inc.

Something extraordinary is coming to Yreka this April. For one evening only, Purple Dragon Games will transform into an immersive Titanic experience filled with discovery, storytelling, and hands-on adventure. This is not simply a history presentation. It is a fully interactive memorial event designed to bring the story of Titanic to life through education, atmosphere, and play.

On Tuesday, April 14th from 4–8pm, guests are invited to step into the world of the most talked-about maritime disaster in history and explore why the Titanic continues to capture imaginations more than a century later. The evening combines museum-style exhibits with guided gaming experiences led by our knowledgeable team of gaming enthusiasts, creating an environment where learning and excitement happen together.

Guests will have the opportunity to play Titanic-themed board games where the tension of the voyage unfolds moment by moment. Our gaming gurus will teach each game and guide players through the experience, making it easy for beginners while still engaging for experienced players. Participants will attempt to navigate the challenges of the ship’s final hours, making strategic decisions as the story progresses toward its dramatic conclusion in the icy Atlantic. The result is a powerful combination of entertainment and historical connection that helps visitors feel the urgency, uncertainty, and humanity of the night Titanic sank.

A Kingdom Far Far Away, Inc. will present two educational exhibits designed to deepen understanding of the historical significance of Titanic and the real people who were part of the voyage. Visitors will encounter carefully prepared stories highlighting passengers whose lives reflect the social, cultural, and personal realities of the era. These narratives help reveal why Titanic is remembered not only for the scale of the disaster, but for the deeply human stories that emerged from it.

One of the featured exhibits includes authentic coal recovered from the Titanic wreck site during the 1994 expedition conducted by RMS Titanic, Inc., the organization that holds exclusive recovery rights to artifacts from the wreck. Seeing a genuine recovered artifact creates a powerful connection to the historical event and provides a rare opportunity to encounter a tangible piece of the story.

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy Titanic-inspired ambience designed to encourage reflection, curiosity, and conversation. The event is intentionally designed to go beyond simply recounting what happened. It explores why the Titanic story continues to be discussed across generations, how it impacted culture, and what themes still resonate today. Purple Dragon Games will have refreshments available for purchase including drinks, cookies, sweets, and snacks. Free popcorn will be provided for seniors and guests ages 50 and over as a small gesture of hospitality for those who especially enjoy historical events. This event is open to the public and completely free to attend. Families, history enthusiasts, students, educators, and curious minds are all welcome. Whether you are deeply familiar with Titanic history or simply intrigued by the story, this evening offers a unique opportunity to learn, interact, and experience the legacy of Titanic in a memorable way.
