TONIGHT'S GAME CHALLENGES
The Last Scream
The footsteps have stopped outside your door. The water beside the boat has gone quiet. Somewhere below the castle, something enormous takes a breath. Welcome to The Last Scream, where tonight’s stories have reached the moment when running is no longer enough. Gather your courage, keep your companions close, and prepare to confront whatever has been chasing you. Our three featured games deliver monstrous encounters, desperate decisions, and the delicious satisfaction of fighting back. The villains have had their dramatic entrance. Now it is your turn.
Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons — The Monsters Have Met Their Match
A Beholder, a Displacer Beast, a Mimic, and a Red Dragon make quite an alarming guest list. Fortunately, your adventuring party has arrived to object. In Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons, players cooperate to protect citizens, gather useful items, and overcome monsters with distinct challenges. Each creature demands a different approach, turning your expedition into a series of puzzles under pressure. You will need to coordinate your movements and use your heroes’ abilities wisely as danger builds around you. What makes this game unforgettable is the shared adventure: the table celebrates narrow escapes, debates urgent rescues, and rallies around the next monster threatening everyone’s plans. No previous D&D experience is needed to join this standalone board game. Bring your courage, listen to your party, and remember that checking a treasure chest for teeth is simply good manners.
Players: 1–5.
Game length: Approximately 50 minutes, plus teaching time.
Difficulty: Approachable to moderate; cooperative planning and different monster combinations provide adjustable challenges.
Recognition: Ravensburger describes the Horrified gameplay system as award-winning; no separate major award was verified for this D&D edition.

Final Girl — This Is Your Scene
The ominous music is rising, the danger is closing in, and the heroine has decided she will not make this easy. Final Girl is a solo horror game that places one player in charge of a protagonist facing a deadly threat. Through action cards, dice rolls, movement, and hard choices, you try to turn a terrifying situation into a survival story. Its Feature Film boxes supply different enemies, locations, and scenario rules, so the nightmare changes with the setup. What makes Final Girl unforgettable is the personal drama of every decision: when to take a risk, when to recover, and when to commit to a desperate move. A plan can unravel in a moment, while an unlikely success can feel like the climactic scene of your own horror movie. This is a one-player challenge, with plenty of suspense for anyone watching the story unfold.
Players: 1; officially a solo game.
Game length: Approximately 20–60 minutes, depending on the scenario and outcome.
Difficulty: Moderate to challenging; tactical decisions meet unpredictable dice and scenario-specific rules.
Award recognition: 2021 Golden Geek winner for Best Solo Board Game.

Jaws — The Final Bite
The shark has made its presence known, and a polite request to leave the beach appears unlikely to work. In Jaws, one player becomes the shark while the others control Brody, Hooper, and Quint in a two-act struggle. First, the crew searches the waters around Amity Island, trying to locate the hidden predator and protect swimmers. Then the board flips to the Orca, where the hunt becomes a close confrontation aboard a boat that may not remain in one piece. What makes Jaws unforgettable is the escalation: early clues and careful searching lead into an urgent battle where every attack feels personal. The crew must work together, while the shark enjoys the rather unfair advantage of being a shark. Tonight, the final scream might come from the person watching another section of their boat disappear.
Players: 2–4.
Game length: Approximately 60 minutes, plus teaching time.
Difficulty: Moderate; combines hidden movement, team coordination, and a tense final confrontation.
Award recognition: 2019 Golden Geek nominee for Best Thematic Board Game.
